State police promote 6, including 2 with county ties

The Arkansas State Police Commission on Thursday approved the recommendations of Colonel Bill Bryant, state police director, to promote six veteran state troopers, including two with Jefferson County ties.

Lt. Barry Saffold, 54, of Jefferson County, was promoted to the rank of captain. He is a 28-year veteran of the department. Capt. Saffold is assigned to the Highway Patrol Division, Tactical and Aircraft Section and will assume command authority of the section.

Lt. William Dias, 51, of Jefferson County, was promoted to the rank of captain. He is a 24 -ear veteran of the department. Capt. Dias is assigned to the Highway Patrol Division, Troop E and will assume duties as commander of Troop E which includes Jefferson County.

Lt. David Cooper, 47, of Hot Spring County, was promoted to the rank of captain. He is a 23-year veteran of the department. Capt. Cooper will leave his current assignment as assistant troop commander within Highway Patrol Division, Troop K, and assume new duties as commander of Troop L.

Cpl. Ben Hoyt, 36, of Faulkner County, was promoted to the rank of sergeant. He is an 18-veteran of the department. Sgt. Hoyt will be assigned to the department’s Administrative Services Division, Training Section.

Cpl. Tiffany Dycus, 46, of Faulkner County, was promoted to the rank of sergeant. She is a 13-year veteran of the department. Sgt. Dycus is assigned to the department’s Office of Professional Standards.

Cpl. Kyle Peek, 38, of Hempstead County, was promoted to the rank of sergeant. He is a 13-year veteran of the department. Sgt. Peek will assume new duties as a post supervisor within the Highway Patrol Division, Troop G.
