The Arkansas State Police are investigating the death of two inmates at two separate prison units.
According to a press release from prison spokesman Solomon Graves, Isaiah Chandler, 25, was found unconscious in his cell at the Tucker Unit about 10:15 a.m. Sunday. Responding officers and medical personnel at the prison began emergency treatment, and Chandler was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Chandler was serving a sentence for aggravated robbery from Pulaski County.
In a separate release Monday, Graves said inmate Jody Cook, 41, was observed acting abnormally in his assigned barracks at the Varner Unit at Grady at about 10 p..m. Sunday night.
Cook was sent to the infirmary and later to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at about 7:30 a.m. Monday.
He was serving a sentence for rape, theft of property and other offenses from Miller and Chicot counties.
No further information was available Monday on either death.
