State police investigate PBPD shooting

The Arkansas State Police have been called in to investigate a shooting involving a Pine Bluff police officer early Saturday morning.

According to a press release from Officer Roy Gober, at approximately 6 a.m., officers were dispatched to 2015 Reed Ave. on the north side of the city in response to a reported burglary in progress. While investigating the house, shots were fired, and the suspect fled on foot. Saturday morning, Gober said in the press release that the suspect had not been located.

The officer, who was not identified in the press release, was placed on administrative leave with pay pending two separate investigations, one by the State Police and the second by the police department’s Office of Professional Standards, to determine if department policies and procedures were followed. No further information was immediately available into the incident.
