The Arkansas State Police are investigating the death of an inmate as a possible suicide.
The inmate, Kevin L. Defries, 54, was found unresponsive in his cell at 12:52 p.m. Thursday by correctional officers making rounds, DOC spokeswoman Cathy Frye said.
Staff immediately took Defries to the infirmary, where he was pronounced dead at 1:46 p.m.
Defries was assigned to the Maximum Security Unit in Tucker where he was serving a 20-year sentence for a robbery conviction out of Greene County.
