A state election official will monitor elections in Jefferson County, according to a press release from Keith Rutledge, director of the State Board of Election Commissioners.
Early voting begins Monday, Oct. 24, weekdays at the Jefferson County Courthouse and the general election will be held at polling places Tuesday, Nov. 8.
“The State Board of Election Commissioners has appointed a certified election monitor to observe early voting, absentee ballot processes, and election day voting and absentee vote canvassing for the 2016 General Election to be held in Jefferson County,” the release said.
The monitor will present credentials from the state board and will be given appropriate access to processes he needs to properly observe, the release said.
