LITTLE ROCK — Fifty-eight Republican state lawmakers have joined a federal court brief challenging the constitutionality of the federal health care reform law.
The U.S. Supreme Court announced in November that it would hear a lawsuit against the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act in March. Congress approved the law and President Obama signed into law in 2010.
The Arkansas lawmakers, in a friend of the court brief filed by the Cato Institute on Monday, argue the exceeds Congress’ power to regulate interstate commerce by forcing Americans to purchase health insurance.
