State basketball tourneys now to start Thursday

All Arkansas Activities Association state high school basketball tournament games will begin Thursday, the association has announced.

This latest postponement is the result of winter weather that has made roads across Arkansas unsafe to drive.

Playoff games in classes 6A, 5A, 3A, 2A and 1A will be held Thursday through Saturday and resume Monday and Tuesday. Games in 7A and 4A will be held Thursday through Saturday and conclude Monday. With the latest rescheduling, no games will be held Sunday.

The state championship finals are still scheduled for March 13-15 at Summit Arena in Hot Springs. Times for the 7A and 4A finals are expected to be set March 11 and times for the other finals are expected to be determined March 12.
