The Arkansas Highway Commission has approved bids for roadwork, including several in Southeast Arkansas, according to the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT.) Construction on the following projects is scheduled to begin in two to four weeks, weather permiting.
DESHA, LINCOLN COUNTIES
The highway commission approved a bid for improvements to a roadway in Desha and Lincoln counties. The project entails resurfacing 4.3 miles of Highway 54 between Dumas and Highway 83. Pine Bluff Sand & Gravel Co. of Pine Bluff was awarded the contract at $1,107,383.55, according to the ARDOT news release.
Also in Lincoln County, the commission approved a bid to level and chip seal 17.3 miles of Highways 11 and 114 between Star City and Gould. Pine Bluff Sand & Gravel was awarded the contract at $4,978,124.77.
Completion is expected in mid 2021.

DESHA COUNTY
The commission has approved a bid for improvements to roadways in Desha County.
The purpose of one project is to widen 4.4 miles of Highway 159 shoulders between Highways 138 and 65. Pine Bluff Sand & Gravel was awarded the contract at $1,311,155.96. Construction is set to begin in two to four weeks, weather permitting. Completion is expected in mid 2021.
Also in Desha County, a bid was approved to resurface 1.43 miles of State Police Road (County Roads 25, 26, and 405) and near Dumas. Smackover Paving Co. of Smackover was awarded the contract at $163,274.64.
Completion is expected in late 2021.
DALLAS COUNTY
The commission has approved a bid for improvements to roadways in Dallas County, according to ARDOT.
The purpose of this project is to resurface 1.4 miles of various city streets in Sparkman, to include: North Steele Avenue, East Ethel Street, Pine Street, Kelly Avenue North and North Louisiana Street.
Smackover Paving Co. was awarded the contract at $312,302.00.
Completion is expected in mid 2021.
CLEVELAND COUNTY
The commission has approved a bid for improvements to a roadway in Cleveland County to replace two structures of Highway 212 over the Bayou Derriseaux.
Simco Inc. of North Little Rock was awarded the contract at $5,828,443.00.
Completion is expected in early 2022.
BRADLEY COUNTY
The commission has approved a bid for improvements to a roadway in Bradley County to resurface 5.2 miles of County Road 18 between Highways 8 and 63, near Warren.
Smackover Paving Co. was awarded the contract at $299,750.10.
Completion is expected in late 2021.
GRANT COUNTY
The commission has approved a bid for improvements to roadways in Grant County, according to ARDOT.
The purpose of this project is to resurface 1.9 miles of various city streets in the city of Tull, to include: Dogwood, West Elm Street, Birch Street, Duvall Lane, and Hickory.
Cranford Construction Co. of North Little Rock was awarded the contract at $218,835.37.
Completion is expected in mid 2021.
