A Star City School District teacher and coach died Saturday, the district announced.
Emily Snyder taught physical education at Jimmy Brown Elementary and coached tennis at Star City High School, according to the district’s post on social media. The district did not list a cause of death.
“Emily was not just a staff member or a coach, but a personal friend to many of us in the community,” the district wrote. “The Pearson/Snyder family has always been a pillar in this town who loves Star City Schools and the Bulldogs with everything they have. Emily was an awesome person and educator who loved kids, as evident in her passion and dedication to not only our SCSD students and athletes, but her own children — a love that was unquestionable.”
The district said guidance and counseling services will be available to anyone who needs it.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to Drake and the family as our thoughts and prayers will continue to be with them in the difficult days ahead,” the district wrote. “Emily will be greatly missed by all.
“We love you Coach Emily.”
