Armstead finishes 14th at NCAA outdoor meet
DES MOINES, Iowa — Arkansas-Pine Bluff junior Terron Armstead finished 14th in the shot put on Saturday at the NCAA Track and Field Championships.
Armstead’s best throw was 60 feet, 11 inches, which was his second throw in the preliminary round. His first throw was 56-1 and he fouled on his third throw.
Arizona State’s Jordan Clarke won the event with a distance of 66-11.

Braves sweep Clinton
CLINTON — The Pine Bluff Braves scored in double digits in both games of a sweep over the Clinton Cardinals 11-2 and 10-1 Saturday in semipro baseball action.
Collin Massanelli, Nathaniel Thompson and Marcus Davis batted in two runs each for Pine Bluff (11-0) in the first game. Corey Briggs and Massanelli hit back-to-back RBIs.
Jeremy Brann worked six innings for his third win of the season.
In the second game, Briggs pitched his first victory of the season, allowing two hits. He and Cedric Lee each hit a home run, and Briggs finished with three hits.
Marcus Davis knocked in another run for the Braves.

Arkansas men finish in eighth place at nationals
DES MOINES, Iowa — The No. 12 Arkansas men’s track and field team finished in eighth-place in the 2012 NCAA Outdoor Championships on Saturday with 26 points.
On the final day, the Razorbacks picked up sixth-place finishes from their 4×100 and 4×400 relays teams.
The Arkansas women’s team finished in a tie for 24th place with 13 points. On the final day, Arkansas finished in fourth place in the 4×400 meter relay.
