Splash pad blues

Nary a tad got to enjoy the splash pad again this summer. A shame, really, seeing how much the kids had splashed and squealed and laughed, as only children can, when the concrete was wettened.
It’s just another downtown attraction thrown up to great fanfare, only to be too soon abandoned. The pad is just west of the Lake Saracen Pavilion, beside which a fountain once misted the Farmers’ Market cooler and offered a multicolored attraction to traffic on Martha.

Guess some thieves hauled off the hydraulics, and the parks department saw no need to replace them. A pity.
Probably about time to reroof the Saenger … again.
