Spirit of support

Editor, The Commercial,

I am writing to share a heartwarming story of generosity that highlights the spirit of community and support within our city. Recently, a small group of employees from the City of Pine Bluff Street Department and an out-of-state gentleman took it upon themselves to graciously support the Third Ward Community Park. The Street Department donated $200 and Jerrold Brantley, whose mother lives near the park, felt led to make a $100 donation. This was truly an unexpected surprise and blessing.

Also, I wanted to take this time to officially thank Kirby and Rosalind Mouser, who donated $300, Rev. Dr. Louise Tisdale who was the first one to make a contribution, and John Compton from our Neighborhood Watch.

While we are thankful for the large contribution of $25,000 we received from Graphyte, Inc., we are grateful for the smaller donations which are equally as valuable.

Donations large and small are added together to assist us in reaching our goal of creating a multipurpose park that would bring about a better Quality of Life and Quality of Place for our citizens in Ward 3.

These acts of kindness from groups, corporate organizations and individual citizens demonstrates support and dedication to the community and their willingness to contribute to its betterment.

We look forward to seeing the positive impact these donations will have on our Ward 3 community park. My heart is full of gratitude for all of those who have made a contribution thus far toward our efforts to create a multipurpose park in Ward 3 for our citizens.

Mr. Brantley stated it well when he said, “any number of kids and/or parents do not own a bicycle or a car. Proper and adequate social skills cannot be achieved through social media platforms. Kids need a safe environment to have fun. That segment of the Pine Bluff community needs a place where people can gather.” I concur with this statement.

Therefore, we welcome those who would like to support our efforts to build a better tomorrow for our youth and families. For information on how to support our efforts, call City Council Member Lanette R. Frazier at 870-575-3619.

Pine Bluff City Councilwoman, Ward 3
