The annual Area IX Special Olympics Track and Field event will be held Saturday, April 9, at the White Hall High School track.
Registration will be held from 8-9 a.m. with opening ceremonies beginning at 9:30 a.m. The event will provide track and field competition for athletes with mental and physical disabilities.
Track events include the 25 meter walk, 30 meter manual wheelchair, 50 meter dash, 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash and the 4-by-100 relay.
The field events include the standing long jump, running long jump, softball throw, tennis ball throw and the shot put. A Bocce tournament will be held on the field.
Olympic style medals will be awarded to the athletes in Olympic fashion. The public is invited to cheer the athletes in their events.
