Sorority announces women’s heart event

The Pink Goes Red Ladies Night Out will be held to bring awareness to women about heart health beginning at 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, at St. Peter Catholic Church gym, 207 E. 16th Ave. The event is free and open to the public.

Sponsors are the Health Committee Target 2-Women’s Health of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Delta Omega Omega Chapter, will partner with First Sisters Outreach Inc., and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Pine Bluff Alumnae Chapter, according to a news release.

From 5-6 p.m., the community is invited to visit the Arkansas Minority Health Mobile Unit parked at the gym.

From 6-8 p.m., the event will feature speakers, Director ShaRonda Love of the Minority Health Commission; Dr. Lee Davis and Dr. Martha Flowers. There will also be a panel of survivors, Dr. Carolyn Blakely, Alamae Harris and Kenneth Harris Jr., will share their stories about heart issues.

There will be healthy food and drink. Women are encouraged to wear their dancing shoes for the line dancing exercise.
