Sooners beat Golden Lions basketball team

Xzayvier Brown scored 13 of his game-high 19 points in the second half in leading the University of Oklahoma to a 95-69 men’s basketball win over the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff on Tuesday in Norman, Okla.

Brown made 7 of 13 field goals and was 5 for 5 at the free-throw line. He was one of six Sooners to score in double figures, as both teams put together balanced scoring.

UAPB (0-4) trailed just 42-31 at halftime and finished the game shooting 40% (25 of 63) from the floor. The Golden Lions were just 7 for 25 from 3-point range but made 12 of 15 free throws.

Milhan Charles led the Golden Lions with 15 points and five rebounds. Quion Williams made 12 assists to go with 11 points, Alex Mirhosseini and Jaquan Scott each had 14 points, and Trevon Payton scored 11.

Oklahoma, which made 49% from the floor (33 of 67), hit 6 of its last 7 shots from the floor to close out the win. The Sooners shot 11 for 30 from the arc and made 18 of 24 free throws.

For the Sooners, Nijel Pack and Dayton Forsythe each scored 15 points, Tae Davis had 13 and Derrion Reid had 12.

Back in Pine Bluff, Southeast Arkansas College’s women’s basketball game against Mississippi Delta Community College scheduled for Tuesday was postponed due to new lighting being installed at UAPB’s H.O. Clemmons Arena. The men’s game against Arkansas Baptist College was moved to Tuesday evening in Little Rock.
