The 2011 Southwest Arkansas Small Farm Conference is scheduled for Friday at the University of Arkansas Community College at Hope. The conference will get underway with registration at 8:30 a.m. and will end at 3:30 p.m.
Designed to inform attendees about programs and services available to promote sustainable communities, the conference will also allow participants to engage in dialogue with officials about agriculture and rural community issues.
Among the presenters are David Fernandez, University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff livestock specialist; Obadiah Njue, UAPB horticulture specialist; and a representative from the national Agriculture Law Center, who will discuss estate planning. The conference is sponsored by the Silas H. Hunt Community Development Corporation, the UAPB Small Farm Program, and USDA agencies.
