The small craft advisory issued Saturday for the Arkansas River remains in effect, a spokesman from the Army Corps of Engineers said Monday.
Heavy rains caused flows to rise. Flows at Emmett Sanders Lock and Dam at Pine Bluff were about 77,000 cubic feet per second and rising Saturday.
During high flows, strong currents and large debris can threaten the safety of pleasure craft. Small craft advisories are issued when flows exceed 70,000 c.f.s.
More rain could push flows higher or cause the advisory to remain in effect longer. Daily river information can be obtained at www.swl-wc.usace.army.mil. Details: www.about.me/usacelittlerock.
