WASHINGTON – Six Arkansas counties, including Jefferson, will share $575,031 awarded by the
Department of Justice to help purchase law enforcement equipment and supplies. The Byrne Justice Assistance Grant Program awards announced Thursday include:
• $69,285 for Jefferson County
• $352,492 for Pulaski County
• $72,925 for Crittenden County
Independent reporting for Pine Bluff & Jefferson County since 1879.
• $33,600 for Miller County
• $27,440 for Craighead County
• $19,289 for Independence County.
The DOJ program was created in 2004 to support federal, state and local government crime prevention programs.
Sen. Mark Pryor, D-Ark., Sen. John Boozman, Rep. Rick Crawford, R-Jonesboro, Rep. Tim Griffin, R-Little Rock, and Rep. Mike Ross, D-Prescott, announced the grants Thursday.
