Sister Friend expo changes locations, update given

REFORM INC. (Resiliency. Empowerment. Faith. OveRcoMer), a 501c3 non-profit corporation, has changed the location for its second annual Sister Friend Empowerment Expo.

The event will be held Friday and Saturday, April 5-6, at the life center of Mt. Harmony Missionary Baptist Church, 812 E. Harding Ave.

The opening session at 7 p.m. April 5 features the “Night of the Performing Arts” honoring women who exemplify Resiliency: Andrea Johnson of Gould; Empowerment: former U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Joycelyn Elders of Little Rock; Faith: Hilda May of Pine Bluff; and Overcomer: Crystal Booth-Weatherspoon of West Memphis.

The opening session is open to registered attendees and to the public. The master of ceremony will be Karlton, Not Karlton Banks, Humes, Instagram phenom and graduate of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, according to a news release.

On April 6, sessions will begin at 9 a.m. and the day will end with keynote speaker, national gospel recording artist Jekalyn Carr.

The expo includes several program tracks. Track 1 presenters are: Yulanda James of Pine Bluff, Chasity Dean-Anthony of West Memphis, Shaunda Williams and fashion designer Linda Rowe Thomas of Little Rock.

Track 2 begins at 7:45 a.m. April 5 offering clinicians, such as licensed social workers and licensed professional counselors, continuing education units/hours featuring local and out of town presenters.

Track 3 has been designed specifically for youth ages 10-19 and is sponsored by ACCESS which is providing free admission up to 250 youths. Lunch will be provided for the youth.

Sister Friend Empowerment Expo aims to empower all ages, both male and female. The expo exposes attendees to tools needed to create a healthier lifestyle, according to the release.

Registration for Track 1 is $25 for both days or $20 each day. Track 2 registration is $100. Track 3 is free for youth ages 10-19 who register with an adult. Vendor registration is $150. There are still vendor spaces left.
