Sheriff’s department plans fun day

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department will be hosting the sixth annual Sheriff’s Fun day Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Martin Luther King Jr. Park.

“Sheriff’s Fun Day is committed to positively impacting the lives of all youth to include those who are underprivileged. This event provides the youth in the community an opportunity to interact with members of law enforcement and other partners in a positive controlled environment,” a spokesman said.

The public is invited. Activities include amusement rides and bounce houses, fishing derby, appearances from life size characters Dora the Explorer and Sponge Bob Square Pants, vehicle extrication demonstrations by Watson Chapel Fire Department and the fire safety house exhibit by the Pine Bluff Fire and Emergency Services Department.
