The Sheridan girl’s softball team went 2-1 over the weekend at the first annual Sheridan Soccer Shootout Tournament.
The Lady Yellowjackets began the event with a 4-0 win over Arkadelphia.
Sheridan scored in the first minute of the game and then added two more before half. Wynn Welch scored two goals in the first half and freshman Heather Carter scored the other goal. Carter then scored another goal in the second half to bring the final score to 4-0.
The defense recorded a shutout lead by the three seniors Brittany Moore, Whitney Ponder and goalie Laura Clinton.
In the second game of the day The Yellowjackets beat E-stem Charter School 3-0. After a scoreless first half, Sheridan woke up in the second to score three goals as sophomores Kinsey Marsh and Megan Moore and Carter each found the back of the net.

Sheridan came up a little short in the title game with a 2-1 loss to Sylvan Hills. The Yellowjackets fell behind 2-0 and then scored on a goal by Welch to make the score 2-1 at half. Neither team could come up with a goal in the second half.
Sheridan’s next game is at home against Sylvan Hills on Thursday.
BASEBALL
Woodlawn 9, Crossett 2
WOODLAWN — Woodlawn remained unbeaten at 5-0 with a win over Crossett.
Trey Hankins earned the win on the mound to improve to 2-0.
The Bears turned a 1-0 lead in the tihrd inning into a rout in the fourth by plating seven runs, aided by three hit batsmen, two walks and a pair of errors.
Colton Williams led Woodlawn at the plate with two singles and two RBIs. Brett Boyd doubled and Blake Erstine drove in a pair of runs.
Woodlawn returns to the diamond Thursday at The Billy Bock Classic Thursday at 6:15 p.m. against Harrison.
