Senior citizens, student day set at fair

Senior citizens and student day will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, at the Southeast Arkansas District Fair Livestock Show and Rodeo at Hestand Stadium. Admission is free.

Sponsored by the Area Agency on Aging of Southeast Arkansas and fair officials, the event will include special guests Doug Scallion performing in the arena, Sahara Shriner clowns and the Diamond Line Dancers.

Gates open at 9 a.m. with the Cummins Prison Band and Pine Bluff Regional Chamber of Commerce Red Coats with numerous booths providing health screening, safety and education information and games, including the Cow Simulator.

Opening ceremonies in the arena begin at 10 a.m. with the welcome, invocation, presentation of colors by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Honor Guard, Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem by Lewis Hinkle.

Free drinks, ice cream and hot dogs will be available, sponsored by Valley Foods, Simmons Bank and Relyance Bank.
