Editor, The Commercial:
Several constituents have asked me what I think about the proposed 5/8ths cents sale tax with a sunset after 7 years, to be voted on this Tuesday, June 13, in Pine Bluff.
I am voting for it because I think it gives residents an opportunity to take action toward revitalizing our city. I think we all should want a better landscape, education and opportunity for more employment and a culturally wholesome community which reflects our rich history and diversity.
We start with seed money to support our wants, the proposed tax provides this seed money. The next action for us as residents is to urge our Pine Bluff City Government officials to spend it the right way. Go Forward Pine Bluff recommendations should be the guideline. Our young people deserve our action NOW!
