Seminar instructor knows her business

Sharon W. Lovoy, who will be leading the “Crucial Conversations: Tools for Talking When Stakes are High” seminar to be attended by Pine Bluff Mayor Debe Hollingsworth and the city council Tuesday, has a solid reputation as a human resources consultant, according to information provided by her firm, Lovoy’s Team Works Inc. of Birmingham, Ala.

The company was established in 1991, and Lovoy — who holds senior professional status in the human resources field — has been a consultant for more than 25 years. Her nearly 300 clients have included Auburn University, the University of Alabama at Birmingham, the Delta Regional Authority, Mercedes Benz, the National Association of African Americans in Human Resources, the United Way and various business, government, legal, medical and utility concerns.

A contributing writer to the 2002 book “Building a Successful Consulting Practice,” which is now in its third printing, Lovoy is also a career ministry organizer who serves as a speaker and facilitator for a number of churches and community organizations.

She has been retained by law firms and state and local governments to conduct diversity and anti-harassment training, intervene to remedy problem behavior and create a wholesome work environment.

She is on the faculty of the management and master management certificate programs at the University of Alabama, where she has received an Outstanding Faculty Member award.

“I know she does great work,” said senior Alderman Bill Brumett. “She was highly recommended to me by a friend of mine at the Delta Regional Authority. I’ve heard nothing but good things about her, her company and its seminars. I think the training here will be a big plus for the council and mayor and our constituents.”
