Salvation Army Capt. David Leonard asks people to write checks to the Salvation Army on Wednesday during a luncheon at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. Leonard said that the agency needs money and volunteers to stay open. Leonard said he used to struggle with drug addiction and used the Salvation Army in San Diego to become sober and find purpose in helping other people.
