Pine Bluff Interested Citizens for Voter Registration Inc. began the second annual Shoes for Kids Drive Nov. 5. The goal is collecting 500 pairs of new shoes for needy children.
The community is asked to help collect shoes which can be dropped off at the PBICVR office, Suite 109 in the Donald W. Reynolds Community Services Center, 211 W. Third Ave.
“We ask the community to help us collect new shoes for kids who live in foster homes or shelters,” Derrick L. Newby Sr., president PBICVR, said in a news release. “We will accept all sizes and colors, girls and boys, to include newborn, youngsters not yet walking and shoes for elementary, junior high and high school youngsters.”
Shoes will be distributed Saturday, Dec. 22, before the Christmas holiday. After Christmas, the Shoes for Kids Drive will continue through the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday, Jan. 21, 2019, which completes their first month of service for 2019.
