Tuition and technology fees will increase starting next school year at Southeast Arkansas College.
The college’s board Thursday approved a $5 increase in tuition per credit hour to $115 and a $3 hike in technology fees per hour to $15. SEARK Interim President Stacy Pfluger cited the cost of doing business as the reason for the increases.
“Everything from food service to technology has gone up,” Pfluger said.
The board also approved a signed contract for incoming President Tyrone Jackson. Details of the contract were not immediately available, but Jackson was appointed to the position, effective July 1.
Jackson presently serves as president of Mississippi Delta Community College. He succeeds Steven Bloomberg, who left in February to become chancellor of the Kern Community College District in California.

Pfluger announced Thursday that Jennifer Colvin has been promoted to full-time dean of the School of Science and Humanities starting in June. Colvin has been serving in the role on an interim basis.
According to SEARK’s administration profile, Colvin earned specialist and doctorate degrees from Arkansas State University, a master’s degree from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and a bachelor’s from Louisiana State University.
Pfluger added that she hopes to announce a dean of the school of Health Professions sometime next week.
