Southeast Arkansas College (SEARK) invites the community to a Community Convocation on SEARK’s campus from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 17.
To ensure social distancing standards are in place, the event will be held in the parking lot in front of the former General Studies South building. All attendees are asked to remain in their vehicle and tune into SEARK’s radio station, KSRK 100.7 FM, according to a press release.
Gates will open at 7:30 a.m. through a specific gate on 18th Avenue. Sign located on Hazel Street will be in place to direct attendees where to enter campus and park.
Usually, SEARK would hold an annual fall convocation to welcome faculty and staff to the new academic year. However, these are not normal times, according to the release.
“SEARK is a college committed to empowering the community. It was decided to hold a Community Convocation. The event will provide an opportunity for the community to hear about SEARK’s new initiatives—particularly those initiatives related to issues of social justice and equity for students and community members,” according to the release.
“Maya Angelou eloquently stated: ‘People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.’ SEARK’s Community Convocation is an opportunity to feel the power of community and the promise of positive change and a better tomorrow,” according to the release.
