SEARK student invited to make presentation

Patrick Wauters, a Southeast Arkansas College student, has been invited to deliver a paper at the 2014 AX Anime and Manga Studies Symposium in Los Angeles in July 3-6.

Japanese animation (anime) and comics (manga) represent one of the major contributions that Japan has made to global visual and popular culture, a spokesman said.

“Patrick Wauters deserves recognition for his brilliant work and accomplishment in being one of very few students accepted to deliver a paper at this conference in Los Angeles, with a group of prestigious doctorates,” Gina Teel, English instructor at SEARK, said.

The major goal of the symposium is to bring together speakers from diverse backgrounds, fields and areas to exchange ideas, explore new directions, and contribute to building a community of anime and manga studies.
