SEARK offers free Adult Education classes

Arkansas Adult Education classes are offered by the Southeast Arkansas College Adult Education Department.

All adult education classes are free and many services are offered in addition to earning an Arkansas high school diploma.

Arkansas Adult Education, a division of the Arkansas Department of Career Education, provides basic skill classes to adults and assists them with earning an Arkansas high school diploma. Programs offered are basic and general education, re-entry and self management skills training, English as a Second Language and Workforce Alliance for Growth in the Economy Program.

The WAGE Program is free for participants seeking emplyment, looking to increase necessary skills for advancement at a current position, considering a change in occupants, raising skills needed to continue their education or wanting to become more involved in community activities. Employers, business or industry looking to recruit and improve talent development can partner with the program, request classes be set up at additional locations or refer clients to the program. They may require additional or specific curriculum tailored to enhance the current state-issued certificates. Certificates are available in Employability, Customer Service I, Office Technology, Industrial, Customer Service II, and Bank Teller, said Leah Irvin, SEARK Adult Education Program Coordinator/WAGE coordinator.
