The Pine Bluff Police Department and Southeast Arkansas College collaborated on training sessions July 27-28 to provide officers with tools to improve their well-being in times of stressful situations and to discuss ways to maintain good relationships with the community, a spokesman said.
The sessions were conducted by Nancy Ryburn, psychology professor at SEARK, and Matthew Pate, criminal justice instructor at the State University of New York at Albany, who also works with the Pine Bluff police.
Pate conducts training for police departments nationwide and Ryburn provides training and psychological services for the Pine Bluff Police Department and other city agencies.
