Search for wanted man unsuccessful

Efforts to locate a Jefferson County man who ran from a sheriff’s deputy on U.S. 425 South Wednesday afternoon were unsuccessful, according to Major Lafayette Woods Jr. of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department.

Sean O’Neal, 30, was wanted on two alias warrants with no bond when Deputy David Cockrell saw O’Neal picking up cans along the side of the highway and tried to arrest him, Woods said.

O’Neal fled into a cornfield and tracking dogs from the Arkansas Department of Correction were called to assist sheriff’s deputies in the search without success.

Woods said the search was called off late Wednesday afternoon but deputies believe they will be able to locate O’Neal soon.
