Community caroling set in Pine Bluff
Community caroling in Pine Bluff will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the corner of Sixth Avenue and Main Street. The Faith Community Coalition and community will meet to sing Christmas songs about Jesus, according to a news release.
The faith coalition will provide candles and masks to anyone needing them starting at 5:15 p.m. Social distancing will be required.
The event will start with “O Come All Ye Faithful” (as a call to action) and end with “Silent Night.” Drivers are urged to turn on their vehicle’s emergency flashers at 5:30 p.m. as they travel throughout the city, “as we declare, ‘Jesus is Lord over Pine Bluff,'” according to the release.

School to start new career program
The University of Arkansas at Monticello McGehee College of Technology at McGehee has announced a new Career Pathways Initiative program.
Called the Education Pays Program, the project allows students who qualify to receive Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Work Study Funds, according to a news release.
Students must have income less than 200% of the federal poverty guidelines, qualify for the Career Pathways and Transitional Employment Assistance Program, remain in the program for six semester hours after enrollment and maintain a 2.0 grade point average. They must also satisfactorily complete duties in the work-study program.
Recipients will receive $100 to sign up, $300 at midterm, $300 for the semester and $500 for program completion.
