White Hall School District students return to the classrooms on Monday, with teachers and other educators returning today through Friday for in-service training at First Baptist Church. Church members will feed teachers today at the church.
Open houses — formerly called orientation — for the start of the 2012-13 school year have been scheduled at a number of the schools. The schedule:
Gandy Elementary: 400 Gandy Ave., White Hall, held a meet and greet for first and second grade students and their parents Monday at the school. An open house will be held at 6 p.m. Sept. 10.
Hardin Elementary: 700 Schoolwood Drive, Redfield, a welcome back to school gathering for kindergarten and first grade students and new students and parents is planned from 5-6:30 p.m. Thursday in the school cafeteria, with an open house for all students and parents at 6 p.m., Aug. 28.
Moody Elementary: 700 Moody Ave., White Hall plans a welcome back to school for kindergarten through third grade students and parents, 3:30-5:30 p.m. Thursday in the school cafeteria, with an open house at 6 p.m. Aug. 30 in the cafeteria.

Taylor Elementary: 805 West St., White Hall, welcome back to school session from 4-6 p.m. on Thursday for students in kindergarten through fifth grade, and an open house at 6 p.m. Aug. 27. Both sessions will be held in the school cafeteria.
The schedule for the two middle schools:
White Hall Middle School, 8106 Dollarway Road, will host an open house Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the school gym.
Redfield Middle School, 101 School St., will host an open house at 5:45 p.m. on Aug. 23. Students can pick up their class schedules during the first period on Monday. First periods will be posted on the front door of the school at 4 p.m. Friday.
White Hall High School ninth grade students and their parents can attend an open house/orientation session at 6 p.m. Thursday in the school cafeteria.
WHHS seniors, juniors, sophomores and freshmen can pick up their class schedules during the first period on Monday. First periods will be posted on the front door of the high school, 700 Bulldog Drive, at 4 p.m., Friday.
Senior high students were able to pick up parking permits and identification cards at the school through Tuesday.
