As part of the Alpha Week Celebration, the Delta Sigma Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. made a donation of $500 to the Salvation Army in Pine Bluff on Dec. 8.

The donation was made during the chapter’s 75th anniversary, according to a news release.

Fraternity members were met with appreciation by Salvation Army leaders Capt. Jason Perdieu and Lt. Rachel Perdieu.

“It’s not about what we get, but what we give,” Judge Earnest Brown, a member of Alpha Phi Alpha, said in the release.

The Perdieus have been instrumental in organizing programs that provide assistance and support to those in need at the Salvation Army, according to the release.

“Our fraternity is committed to manly deeds, scholarship, and love for all mankind,” said Jackie Harris, president of the Delta Sigma Lambda Chapter. “Through our donation to the Salvation Army, we aim to inspire and uplift those in need, fostering a sense of hope and compassion within our community.

For the past 75 years, the chapter has remained steadfast in its mission to advocate for social issues, academic excellence, and equal opportunities for all, according to the release.
