The Salvation Army Angel Tree deadline for all donated items is Friday at 4 p.m.
Salvation Army Captain Joanna Robinson said that as of Wednesday there remains a need for volunteers to donate items requested by needy children and senior citizens.
“We have a need for items for our forgotten angels,” Robinson said. “Sometimes people will select an angel and for whatever reason neglect to get the items requested by that person to us.”
Robinson said that the Salvation Army is in need of toys that would appeal to boys and girls ages 8 to 12 as well as items for senior citizens.
“Our senior citizens have requested large print bibles, electric blankets, dishes, pots, pans and socks,” Robinson said.

Employee bell ringers
Salvation Army Captain David Robinson said that a couple of area businesses will be providing bell ringers outside of their stores this week.
“All four of the Brookshire’s stores in Pine Bluff have volunteered their employees to serve as Red Kettle campaign bell ringers outside of their stores today and we really appreciate their support,” Robinson said. “Also, the USA Drugs location on 28th is having its employees ring today and the employees at their Dollarway Road location will ring tomorrow. This really means a lot to us and we are so thankful for their support.”
Robinson said that the money collected by the campaign is down just a bit from this time last year but he’s pleased with the community response.
“I think we’re doing great,” Robinson said. “As of right now we are $761 behind last year but it is not because of a lack of effort. It just depends on the amount of traffic that comes by and the time of day.”
