Ross accepting intern applications

The office of U.S. Congressman Mike Ross, D-Prescott, is accepting applications for the 2012 Congressional Summer Internship Program in his Washington, D.C., office.

The 2012 Congressional Summer Internship Program is split into two sessions — May 29 to June 29 and July 2 to Aug. 3. Interns may coordinate academic credit directly with their college or university.

To be considered, applicants must be at least 21 years old, high school graduates and enrolled in or currently attending an accredited college or university. All applications must be postmarked by March 15.

Applicants from Arkansas’ Fourth Congressional District, which covers most of southern and western Arkansas, are strongly encouraged to apply. Internships are also available in Ross’ district offices in El Dorado, Hot Springs, Pine Bluff and Prescott.

“My summer internship program is designed to give our future leaders a chance to learn firsthand about the federal government and the legislative process,” said Ross. “Interning in our nation’s capital is an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and it allows students an experience that simply cannot be simulated in a classroom.”

Questions should be directed to Ashton Honey in the Washington office. Applications may be obtained at the website, ross.house.gov/students; by e-mail at mike.ross@mail.house.gov; by calling 1.800.223.2220; or, by picking up an application in the district offices. Mailed applications should be addressed to the Office of Congressman Mike Ross, Attn: 2012 Congressional Summer Internship Program, 2436 Rayburn House Office Building, Washington, D.C., 20515.
