Robey finishes strong in tournament

Jack Robey junior high boy’s finished off a 21-2 season Saturday with two wins in the conference tournament.

Robey doused Crossett 44-7 in the opening game with Ladarius Skelton leading the way with nine points. John Tate added eight and Kyran Simmons collected 6.

In the championship game, Robey overcame an 11-5 first-quarter deficit to beat Monticello 36-23. Roby outscored Monticello 13-2 in the second period to take an 18-13 lead at halftime and 9-6 in each of the final two stanzas.

Marcus Thomas led the way with 11 points while Tate had eight.

First-round play in the River City Conference Tournament took place Saturday at Watson Chapel High School with the host team claiming wins in boys and girls action.

Watson Chapel’s girls downed rival White Hall 35-15 with Megan Moore and Johagony Murry pacing the Lady Wildcats with seven points each. Morgan Moak and Lauren McCullough had six apiece.

Whitehall was led by Crea Lowery’s five points.

Kyran Thomas scored 19 points as Watson Chapel’s boys disposed of Pulaski Academy 44-39. Datreon Lindsey added 14 for the Wildcats.

Pulaski Academy ws paced by Ralston Konta with 17.

In other boys action, White Hall defeated North Pulaski 28-19. Kirk Baugh led the way for White Hall with eight points while David Sprinkle and Antoine Luster added six each.

North Pulaski’s Jaylen Kelly led all scorers with 11.

Also, Central Arkansas Christian beat Little Rock Mills 32-21. Steven Flanigan paced CAC with 14 points while Calen Peters paced Mills with 11.

Taylor Raney’s 15 points led Sheridan’s boys to a 39-23 win over Bauxite with Dakota Stone chipping in with 12.

Bradley McCool led Bauxite with 17.

In other girls action, Maumelle eased past Bauxite 39-33, Pulaski Academy slipped by CAC 22-19 and Jacksonville disposed of Sylvan Hills 34-29.

Joy Porter paced Pulaski Academy with seven points while Britney Higgins scored 12 for CAC. Antrice McCoy led all scorers with 19 points for Jacksonville while Sylvan Hills got 16 from Jessica Brassfield.

The tournament continues Monday at Watson Chapel with a pair of boy’s contests. Jacksonville and CAC open play at 3:30 p.m. with Sylvan Hills and White Hall to follw at 5 p.m. Sheridan’s girls play Jacksonville at 6:30 and Sheridan’s boys close the evening against Maumelle at 8 p.m.

Dollarway junior high ended a three-game losing skid Friday night against Lakeside.

Donald Robinson recorded a double-double for Dollarway with 14 points and 10 rebounds

Dollarway will play at Hamburg Tuesday at 5 p.m.
