Rebecca Newby, a junior from Rison High school, was recently elected lieutenant governor at the 2012 Arkansas Girls State program.
Newby plans to attends Pine Bluff High School in the fall and would like to attend college and become a teacher.
Newby is a former member of the King Team of Interested Citizens for Voter Registration at Pine Bluff.
“The American Legion Girls State is among the most respected and selective educational programs of government instruction for high school students,” an official said.
