Diedre Young, science teacher at Ridgway Christian High School at Pine Bluff, is among participants of a NASA research project in Seattle, Wash., Jan. 4-8.
The NASA/IPAC Teacher Archive Research Program is sending 40 teachers and students to the winter 2015 meeting of the American Astronomical Society.
Young is among educators starting with the NITARP class of 2015. They will present their results, with their students, at the 2016 AAS in Kissimmee, Fla.
NITARP partners small groups of educators with a research astronomer for a year-long project. The educators and their students from the 2014 class are presenting the results of their work this week, and the educators from the 2015 class are meeting their teams and getting started on their projects.
