Republican Marcus Richmond of Harvey announced Wednesday he was ending his campaign for 4th Congressional District representative.
Richmond is endorsing GOP Tom Cotton for the post currently held by U.S. Rep. Mike Ross, D-Prescott, who announced last year he would not seek re-election.
Richmond’s decision was made after much discussion and prayer, a news release said.
“As I’ve traveled the district, my campaign for Congress has been focused on experience and service,” Richmond said. “The fourth district deserves a Republican nominee who has the experience to run an effective campaign and the heart to serve every constituent. We deserve a Congressman who won’t get caught up in the partisan politics and has the guts to say no to bad policy. We need a Congressman who has courage, honor and principle. That’s why today, as I suspend my campaign, I’m endorsing Tom Cotton for Congress.”
