Residents recovering from the severe storms, flooding and tornadoes since March 8 should immediately report damages to the Jefferson County Office of Emergency Management.
Damage assessments are ongoing. Residents should document damages to homes and businesses with photos and receipts for potential assistance.
Disaster recovery officials urge individuals to contact their local insurance agent about filing a claim as soon as possible.
“There is no substitute for adequate insurance and filing a claim is an important first step towards recovery,” a spokeswoman said.
