Reportedly stolen gun recovered during arrest

A report that a man was walking down Olive Street Wednesday carrying a gun resulted in the arrest of the man, and the recovery of the gun which had been reported stolen.

Montrellis Henry, 29, allegedly ran when he saw police near West 16th Avenue and Olive Street and was chased down near West 14th Avenue and Olive Street, Deputy Prosecutor Maxie Kizer said during a court hearing Friday for Henry.

According to a probable cause affidavit from Detective Temmiothy Johnson, police retraced the path Henry had taken and found a .45-caliber pistol that had been reported stolen in a burglary at a pawn shop.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $10,000 bond for Henry after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge him with theft by receiving.

Kearney declined to appoint an attorney for Henry.
