Reed shuts down Watson Chapel

SHERIDAN — Freshman Olivia Reed gave up just three hits to lead Sheridan to a 5-0 softball win over Watson Chapel on Thursday.

Reed pitched all seven innings while walking one and striking out three.

At the plate for Sheridan (23-4), Tiffany Easter and Morgan Cotton each had two hits and a run scored.

No stats were reported for Watson Chapel.

Sheridan plays at 5 p.m. today at Texarkana.

White Hall 2, Texarkana 1

WHITE HALL — White Hall scored two runs in the third inning to get past Texarkana 2-1 on Thursday.

Texarkana was up 1-0 when Haley Baugh had a two-run hit to put White Hall (21-6) up for good.

Sydnee Clark went all seven innings in the win, gave up one walk and struck out 11 batters.

Monticello 11, Stuttgart 9

STUTTGART — Monticello’s six-run fifth inning helped the Lady Billies to an 11-9 win over Stuttgart on Thursday.

Halley Ryburn went 2 for 3 with a three-run home run and got the save for Monticello (20-8).

Madelyn Gates was 5 for 5 and Karyss Coleman and Ashley White each had three hits.

Morgan Hopper pitched three innings for the win.

Monticello plays at noon on Thursday in the first game of the 5A state tournament in Wynne.
