FORDYCE — The floodgates opened for Fordyce late in the second quarter as the Redbugs beat Monticello 36-0.
The game was scoreless until Larry Buckley hauled in Cole Johnson’s first of three touchdowns in the game with 3:37 left in the first quarter for a 7-0 lead.
Fordyce did not score against until 3:25 left before halftime with a touchdown and Preston Blackmon intercepted a pass during Monticello’s ensuing possession and returned it 75 yard for the score.
The Redbugs (3-0) were able to add another score before the half for a 26-0 lead and went on to win 36-0.
Johnson finished the game 11 of 18 passing for 202 yards and three scores. Buckley rushed for 47 yards and a touchdown on six carries and caught three passes for 42 yards and a touchdown.
Rashod Allen hauled in two catches for 75 yards and a touchdown and Charles York caught a 30-yard touchdown pass as Fordyce racked up 335 total yards on Monticello, which was shut out for the second time this season.
