A nearly $20,000 appropriation ordinance to cover the costs of insurance for the juvenile detention center will be considered during a special meeting of the Jefferson County Quorum Court Monday at 5:25 p.m.
In a letter to the Quorum Court dated Jan. 4, Sheriff Gerald Robinson said he was notified by the county judge’s office that there was not enough money in the insurance fund to pay the annual premium for the center for this year. The insurance is carried by First Arkansas Insurance/Pine Bluff.
An invoice from the company, dated Dec. 27, showed $19,294 is due to cover the center from Jan. 1, 2012 to Jan. 1, 2013.
The regular meeting of the county’s legislative body will follow at 5:30 p.m. with the justices of the peace expected to approve the following ordinances, which were recommended for approval by committees last week.
• A $43,231 appropriation ordinance for the Fire Prevention and Safety Grant program.
• A $31,591.30 appropriation ordinance for Juvenile Court for the FINS (Families In Need of Services) and Truancy program with the money coming from the Pine Bluff, Dollarway, Watson Chapel and White Hall School Districts, and an appropriation ordinance to transfer $28,000 remaining in the 2011 Juvenile Accountability Block Grant Fund to the FINS and Truancy Fund.
• An $11,324.36 appropriation ordinance for the 2012 budget for the State Homeland Security Grant Program with the funds coming from a grant from the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management.
