Adjustments in the job titles and salaries of two employees of the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office will be discussed when committees of the Jefferson County Quorum Court meet Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at the county courthouse.
In a letter to Judiciary Committee Chairman Ted Harden, Prosecutor S. Kyle Hunter said he had two positions in the office that are designated as assistant case coordinators but the people filling those positions have the same responsibilities as the three other case coordinators in the office. Hunter wants to change the job titles “and pay them accordingly.”
Christa Menotti, who was co-coordinator of the Victim Witness Division of the prosecutor’s office resigned recently, and Hunter adjusted the responsibilities for that position, hiring a Victim Witness Clerk at a salary of $29,000 annually, resulting in a savings of $6,193 per year plus applicable savings in benefits compared to what had been budgeted for this year.
In the letter, Hunter said $2,811 would be needed to change the salaries of the two case coordinators, plus applicable benefits and with the savings from the Victim Witness position, the changes could be made without any additional county money.
If the county’s legislative body approves the changes, they would be retroactive to April 1.

Also on Tuesday, the justices of the peace will consider a proposed appropriation ordinance that would increase the Circuit Clerk’s Office budget by $27,500.
Circuit Clerk Lafayette Woods Sr., said the money is needed to cover the costs of recording books, file folders, recording paper for deeds and mortgages and other expenses.
Other items on the agenda include the following:
• A $14,000 supplemental appropriation for the Recycling Resource Recovery Fund with the money coming from a grant the county received from the Southeast Arkansas Economic Development District. Recycling Coordinator Sandra Graves said in a letter to County Judge Mike Holcomb that the money would be spent for salaries and advertising. No county general money would be needed.
• A $14,400 supplemental appropriation for the County Assessor with the money being transferred from the Assessor’s Amendment 79 fund. Assessor Yvonne Humphrey said in a letter to Holcomb that the funds would be used to buy Image Viewer software and scanners for scanning homestead letters. No county general money would be needed.
• A $224,874.78 supplemental appropriation for the Jefferson County Road Department with the money coming from various county agencies and departments who use the road department’s fuel system and service center. The amounts range from $256 for the circuit clerk to $127,313.12 for the sheriff’s department.
• A resolution reappointing David Boast to a three-year term on the Jefferson County Equalization Board beginning June 1 and ending May 31, 2015.
