The Grand Prairie Quilt Society met Jan. 14 for their Sit ‘n Sew at First Christian Church in Stuttgart, with seven members present.
The leader opened the meeting with the Thought for the Day: “Behind every great quilt is a sewing room that looks like a tornado hit a fabric store.”
The December minutes and treasurer’s report were given. January Happy Birthday greetings were extended to Betty Knoll. Also, a Christmas card was read from Arkansas Children’s Hospital, according to a news release.
In new business, The leader asked for ideas for projects for 2026. There will be a quilt show at the Delta Rivers Nature Center in Pine Bluff Regional Park in September. More about this will be given at a later date.
An invitation was extended from a quilt club in Knoxville, Tenn., to enter their quilt show.

In Show and Share, A member had a lap robe in a Large Postage Stamp pattern that she made for Crestpark. She also made a dozen pillows for the Breast Cancer center at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.
A member showed her Bursting Blooms quilt blocks in progress. The quilters are looking forward to seeing the completed quilt top.
During lunch time, everyone caught up on the news. After the business session, everyone got busy on their various projects. One sewed on a tote bag. One pinned her latest Razorback quilt. A member crocheted an afghan for the Scott Settlement Dinner, and another worked on a teddy bear cloth book. A participant stuffed her pillows for breast cancer patients. Another worked on her picture magnets.
“Come join us in February for our meeting on Feb. 11, 2026, at the church,” a spokesman said.
