The Jefferson County Health Unit will be celebrating Public Health Week from Monday to Friday, April 6, with the theme “Active Living and Healthy Eating.”
The kickoff will be at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Lake Saracen pavilion with proclamations from Jefferson County Judge Mike Holcomb and Pine Bluff Mayor Carl A. Redus Jr; Lakendrick’s Creative Dancing students promoting and demonstrating dance, stretching and movements; a walk around Lake Saracen with all participants and an exercise video; and information on nutrition and WIC from the Jefferson County Health Unit.
The schedule for the week is:
• Tuesday: Focus on alcohol, tobacco and other drugs with a display at the local health unit, featuring drug and alcohol prevention information and tobacco cessation material.
• Wednesday: Focus on communicable disease with a display at the local health unit, featuring immunization information.
• Thursday, April 5: Focus on reproductive and sexual health with a display at the local health unit, featuring STD information, condoms and other family planning information.
• Friday, April 6: Focus on mental and emotional well-being with a display at the local health unit.
