Progressive Women address scholarship auction, plans

The Progressive Women’s Association its scholarship program and other issues at the monthly meeting and luncheon recently at Relyance Bank at White Hall.

President Delois Dilbeck welcomed guests and members to the meeting. Bernice “Betsy” Foster, scholarship chairwoman, updated the group on the scholarship recipients’ transcripts. The group decided on tenative dates for their fall scholarship auction and their Christmas party.

Dottie Yarbrough, community service chairwoman, reminded everyone to continue bringing non-perishable food for needy children at Taylor Elementary School to take home on the weekends. Jan Adam, travel chairwoman, planned a fellowship trip to the Outlet Mall at Little Rock.

Alice Erwin won the dollar pot and donated it back to the group. Balleny Yarbrough won the door prize. Erwin also won the birthday present.

Louise LaGrone’s food group was in charge of the luncheon. The luncheon featured pimento cheese sandwiches and chicken salad sandwiches prepared by Linda Hurd. Brenda Doucey was in charge of decorations and decorated the room with snowmen.

Selma James and Doris Earnest, guests of Foster, were special guests at the meeting.
